Liquid is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a top honour at the BBAA (British Business Angels Association) awards in Manchester on Tuesday. The Angel - VC (Venture Capital) Deal of the Year award was open to individual VCs, business angel networks, angel groups/syndicates and individual investors who have successfully structured a deal including both VC and angel investment. Liquid raised £770,000 worth of investment funding in February by selling an 18% stake to a syndicate of prominent local business angels, with a further 12% being match-funded by the Government’s flagship fund for women-led businesses, The Aspire Fund.     On 12th November, Liquid’s very own managing director, Matt Holmes, picked up the Young Business Personality award, sponsored by Fantastic Media, at the prestigious Huddersfield Examiner Business Awards for 2009. The award judges recognised Matt for his single-minded attitude to overcoming his difficulties as well as his technical expertise and business acumen. Matt, who has overcome severe dyslexia to achieve this award, said “It is not just about the guy at the top it’s about the team who have put up with my ways. "This award should go to everyone who has helped move the business forward. They have all been laughing at me because I’m now 40 and I’ve only just made it into this category."
